Cyber Security Engineer

Position Summary

The Cyber Security Engineer’s role is to ensure the secure function of infrastructure and software application programs by executing security code reviews, participating in functional code reviews, and collaborating with our TechOps and Development teams. The Cyber Security Engineer will perform security-oriented threat and risk analysis, derive internal product security concepts, and create security test specifications to evaluate lines of programming code to make sure a given application is safe from cyber-attack.

Job Description & Responsibilities

  • Maintain and support the security infrastructure internally and externally
  • Implement and support endpoint management, endpoint protection, data loss prevention, network security, vulnerability management, and firewall rule management
  • Perform penetration testing to evaluate internal and external security postures of applications, networks, and servers
  • Threat modeling and security code reviews of programming done by application developers
  • Systematically address application security issues and develop secure coding practices for multiple development teams
  • Utilize application & network security scanning tools to identify vulnerabilities and associated risks
  • Utilize source code scan tools to apply best practices for application & network security to catch vulnerabilities at early stages
  • Work closely with agile software development teams during the design and development process to guide secure feature design and secure coding practices
  • Maintain awareness of trends in security regulatory, technology, and operational requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree; Computer Science or related engineering field with training in cyber security; a graduate degree is a plus
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in Linux, Android, iOS and open source software
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience (5+ years preferred) in testing and debugging software (.NET, Java, Python, PowerShell, C/C++, etc.)
  • Experience in researching and investigating exploits and system vulnerabilities
  • Strong knowledge of application security throughout the software lifecycle
  • Ability to work across varying levels of technical competency to accurately communicate risk and mitigation activities
  • Proficiency in networking concepts (firewalls, load balancer, etc.)
  • Software development experience with modern software development frameworks (.NET, Java, Python, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of application technologies and platforms, including web applications and services
  • Understanding of secure software development life cycle (Secure SDLC)
  • Understanding of network & application layer attach vectors using latest knowledge from sources such as SANS and OWASP
  • Familiarity with the use and testing of APIs to reduce exposure of data outside of intended consumers
