Data Governance Analyst

The Data Governance Analyst will play an integral role within the Data Governance team. This position will support the success of our data strategy by identifying and cataloguing all sources and consumption of data, documenting data lineage, performing data analysis, identifying data quality gaps, and understanding the holistic usage and monitoring of data across the enterprise.

This position requires acute attention to detail, ability to document processes and programs, collaboration skills, and experience with a large organization having a wide variety of complex datasets. Job Description & Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development of a data platform vision, strategy, and roadmap which supports data governance
  • Support, in partnership with IT, the implementation of scalable frameworks, standards and data best practices while supporting the integrity and governance of data across our data ecosystem and lifecycle
  • Develop data lineage reports to capture each data flow from source to consumption, highlighting changes and transformation of data
  • Manage the blueprinting of models, policies, and standards that govern which data is collected
  • Strategize how the collected data is stored, arranged, integrated, and put to use to enable data-driven decision-making across the enterprise
  • Support the design and creation of a comprehensive data dictionary for data
  • Develop data taxonomy and master data management to classify data, provide structure, and ensure it is unique and without redundancy
  • Develop, optimize, and oversee conceptual and logical data models
  • Perform data quality audits, identify data collection issues, suggest improvements, and oversee implementation of fixes
  • Perform as a data steward, together with the broader data governance team, to convey governance requirements
  • Support the documentation and implementation of data quality policies, standards, and procedures for both legacy and new data environments
  • Manage the data information life cycle
  • Oversee the migration of data from legacy systems to a consolidated database
  • Recommend solutions to improve our Data Governance posture
  • Serve as a business lead and subject matter expert for data domains

Qualifications & Experience

  • 5+ years of professional data-related experience
  • Experience defining and implementing data governance best practices, documenting data flow & process mapping, metadata management and data lineage
  • Strong experience in documenting data requirements, data strategy and data rules (standardization, cleanse, and validation)
  • Ability to evaluate risks and provide recommendations
  • Experience working with regulatory compliance frameworks especially as it concerns Data and Data Privacy
  • Ability to quickly gain a high-level understanding of complex business processes
  • Demonstrated capability for problem solving, decision making, sound judgment, assertiveness
  • Dynamic and vigorous with a professional and positive approach; ability to cope under pressure
  • Strong relationship building and interpersonal skills and ability to build effective working relationships across functions
  • Expert in SQL
  • Experience with analytic tools and databases such as Tableau, PowerBI, Oracle
  • Experience working with a data warehouse, data mart, and other data related structures including mapping source data to target table
  • Bachelor’s degree in information science, data management, computer science or related field preferred

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with Automotive Retail Environment, franchise dealers
  • Experience with Automotive Sales, Service and Marketing
  • Experience working in a Global Environment
